Using MAC Authorization Bypass (MAB) with RADIUS using PAP (same as Cisco)?

$

We have a Cisco-environment but we are evaluating Dell switches N2000-series as access-switches.

Everything but MAB seems to work.

Debugging in the Dell switches shows that it wants an EAP Message and not PAP.

Cisco uses PAP as default. It works great with our backend LDAP-server. But not with Dell switches.

Is it possible to configure MAB to use PAP?

Hello

in the last 30 days yum update is no longer working on centos 6 machines with this error:

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

this is related to dell's repository, can this be fixed and let me know once done?

Configure MXL Blade switches for active paths using 2 qty CNA

Dear members,

I need to configure a solution in which qty2 CNAs Qlogic 57810s are been used in LOM & port B of each m630 blade server, converged MXL switches placed in A1A2 & B1B2 slots. All the switches have below mentioned IO modules:

  • SFP+ 10GbE Module 4 port Hot Swappable 4x SFP+ ports (optics or direct attach cables)
  • Fibre Channel Flex I/O Module with 4xDell Networking, Transceiver, SFP+,FC,150M,SW,FIN

Below are the requirements of client

  • Stack A1A2
  • Stack B1B2
  • All paths for SAN from Flex IO modules & for LAN from SFP+ must be active active to achieve CNA level redundancy. attached is a diagram for better understanding.
  • All the empty ports from each blade switch will be terminated at DMZ switch of the customer by using SFP+ to 1GBE RJ45 convertor.

I know how to stack A1A2 together & B1B2 switches together, i need to know what should be configured at CNA level to support active active connections/paths. plus A1A2 & B1B2 switches to support FIN &  Flex IO for a converged n/w infra.

Raid controller not presenting bootable VD

Hi,

I have an R730 with all firmware recently updated to latest versions in an attempt to resolve this problem. I need to host an Nvidia K20 (slightly older but qualified GPGPU). I therefore have UEFI turned off

I have 2 disk drives in a mirror raid (1) and set to writeback and no read ahead (for the purposes of troubleshooting this problem).

I can boot from USB and install CentOS to the Virtual Disk but the Virtual Disk does not appear in the menu of bootable devices. If I re-enable UEFI then the disk appears in the list of bootable devices (but the GPU crashes the system before the boot - crash looks something like this: http://moufie.blogspot.com/2015/01/technology-system-detected-exception.html

I also have 3 other R730s that only have a single disk and no raid controller. They all work by simply turning off UEFI and making no other changes.

1000W UPS Update software fails

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on a DELL UPS Tower 1000 but the DELL UPS Upgrade Software does not connect to the UPS.  I've tried both USB and serial connections to the UPS and neither work, both give the error message of "No UPS connected or unable to open connection".

However, the Local Node Manager that I installed can communicate with the UPS over both USB and serial connections.  It reports the current firmware version as 01.08.0001 (which I believe is very old) and I am using version 01.06.0003 of the DELL UPS upgrade software to try to upgrade the firmware to version 01.14.0003.

I am attempting this from a Windows 8.1 platform.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Does anyone know what "CPH" stand for?

It's listed in the System Board Connectors section of the PowerEdge T320 user manual (excerpt below).

4  SLOT1 PCIE-G2-X4(CPH)  PCIe card connector 1
5  SLOT2 PCIE-G2-X1(CPH)  PCIe card connector 2
6  SLOT3 PCIE-G3-X16(CPU1)  PCIe card connector 3
7  SLOT4 PCIE-G3-X4(CPU1)  PCIe card connector 4
8  SLOT6 PCIE-G3-X4(CPU1)  PCIe card connector 6

Installing Ubuntu on T320 gives "scanning for devices" freezing message.

Hi,

I have a power edge server T320 that is brand new. I bought it without operating system because I intend to setup my own server based on ubuntu server 14.04.

I booted from usbkey and the installation went fine. On reboot, however, the computer freezes during BIOS loading, i.e., before it actually gets to the point of loading the operating system. The "error" message is "scanning for devices please wait, this may take several minutes", but it never finishes.

What is this about and how can I fix it?

I already tried turning off iDRAC, NIC boot, and other fancy stuff in the BIOS menu that I don't need, but the message persists. The system has a PERC 6/i but I'm not using it now. I only have one HD installed and it is connected directly to the mother board, as the cdrom drive.

Upgrade to VMware ESXi 6.0 Update 2 from VMware ESXi 6.0

Hello I am currently running my PowerEdge T110 II with VMware ESXi 6.0 - Dell Customized image. I see as of April 15 2016 Dell has released VMware ESXi 6.0 Update 2 and I would like to update my system.

On the download page I see there is an option to download and ISO file. I am wondering if this install will completely wipeout my existing VMware ESXi 6.0 - Dell Customized and all settings and I have to start all over or will the Update 2 ISO just "upgrade" my existing system?

Hi, what is the status about SANDisk DAS Cache for VMware?

Will it support Vsphere 6 ?

Will it support write-back mode on Raid controller in the future?

Is it the same software as SANdisk Flashsoft?

M1000e Port-channel problems

$

I've got an m1000e with (2) M I/O aggregator cards (slot A1 & B1) cabled via the 40g ports to (2) S6000 switches set up in VLT mode.  I am using the default port channel (128) and ports 33-40 on both I/O's, and port channel 128 on the S6000's (dynamically assigned).  I was able to get the ports up on both sides, but I've noticed that I can only get one I/O port channel active at any given time.  Either A1 is active or B1, never both.  If I reload one of the I/O's the port channel will fail over to the other I/O.  My question is whether this is by design or is something configured incorrectly?  I did notice that DCB and Flowcontrol are configured on the B1 side ports and I can't remove it, yet they are not configured on the A1 side, and I cannot modify them to add it.  The cards have the same OS, version number and look to have been built within hours of each other.  I'm new to Dell, so any help anyone can provide would be great!

Hello,

I have multiple Dell S6000 switchs that are giving me this error when I start it up

00:00:23: %STKUNIT1-M:CP %CHMGR-5-PEM_INSERTED: Power entry module 2 of unit 1 is inserted
00:00:23: %STKUNIT1-M:CP %CHMGR-1-PEM_UNSUPPORTED_TYPE: Major Alarm:Power entry module 2 of unit 1 is of unsupported type

Also the Power LED light keeps flashing a yellow light.

I have switched out the power supplies with another pair that I knew for sure were good but the same problem occurs. I was just wondering if anyone knew what this meant, or what i can do to fix it.  I'm pretty knew to this stuff so any feedback would be awesome.

PowerEdge 2950 PERC 5/i VD not rebuilding after failed disk

$

Have 2 VDs defined:  0: raid-1 (boot disk), 1: raid-10 (data disk)

Noticed failed disk (0:0:2) and degraded VD 1. Removed (live) and inserted new disk. VD (1) not rebuilding.  No hot spares configured.

in OMSA (5.5.0)

- attempt to rebuild disk reports

 # omconfig storage pdisk action=rebuild controller=0 pdisk=0:0:2
Operation disabled. Read, action=rebuild
.Refer to the documentation for more information.

In RAID BIOS (5.2.2-0072)

- disk shows as ready in the PD management

- disk shows as missing in the VD management

- only options on pd management for disk is blink led or assign as global host spare. Latter completes but warns that the disk will not be available for either VD

See postings from users having success w/ "VD reconfigure" action, but they are not using the CLI and don't give specifics of command parameters. SO - is reconfigure of the VD the way to go here? Or is that strictly to change size or expand. What are my options?

Prefer to use the OMSA interface as this is a critical system and would like to have rebuild occur in background.

Updating PERC H800 Firmware on Ubuntu

Hello,

OpenManage is complaining about the firmware version being out of date for my PERC H800 adapter. When I enter my service tag and go to Drivers and Downloads  and look at Dell PERC H800 Adapter firmware release 12.10.7-0001, it seems to only be available for Red Hat or Windows. Can I not update on Debian?

Update PERC H700 firmware on R710 running ESXi 5.5U2

Hello,

Have a production R710 server running ESXI 5.5U2, and OMSA installed. OMSA is telling me that the firmware for our PERC h700 is out of date.

Firmware Version12.10.6-0001
Minimum Required Firmware Version12.10.7-0001
Driver Version

00.00.05.34-9vmw

How can I upgrade firmware for controller? Can I install a windows server and execute the windows executable?

File Name: SAS-RAID_Firmware_9FVJ2_WN32_12.10.7-0001_A13.EXE
I've never done this before, usually, I'd convert it to a windows machine and upgrade like that, but I don't have that option this time as this server is in production. Any advice will be helpful.
Thank you

Scan network for Service Tag + IP + Model

Our facilities use over 450 switches at different locations, there is currently no documented inventory system of the service tags/serial numbers and models that are used in each location. Is there an easy way to populate this information (Currently going one by one and logging in and pulling information directly from each switch, which is tedious to say the least)

I've tried a few network scanning softawares but few are pulling switch information and i've not found one that pulls service tag.

PowerConnect M6220 cannot reset password from CLI

$

I have an M1000e with 4 M6220's and I have been able to reset the password on 3 of them by connecting to the CLI console through the CMC. The 4th one is behaving differently than the others. When I connect to the switch, I am prompted for a password (which I don't have) and cannot get passed it. Any ideas on how to reset this switch password or even to restore factory defaults?
